Please listen to this—every single word.

You need to COMMIT before we can go any further...

You got this, there's nothing to be scared or worried about!

Be open to trying new things.

Be open to going back and working on things you thought you already knew.

Be open to learning.

There is always something to learn!

Commit to learning about yourself, commit to learning from me, commit to learning from each other. We're all in this together.

When you COMMIT to something, go full steam ahead. Give your all - mentally and physically.

Commit to taking full control of your attitude, your effort, and your mindset.

YOU CONTROL ALL OF THOSE THINGS - always and forever.

COMMIT

I know I get to see your answers, but I want to make sure that YOU remember and keep your answers too, so make sure you write the answers down in your journal!

Be honest in your intention, and put some thought into this!

Don't answer with what you think I want to hear or what your coach wants to hear, answer with your heart.

YOU know these answers better than anybody.

YOU have a voice that is so strong.

You're going to find your Strike %!

Our #1 job as a pitcher is to throw strikes! And our Strike % is extremely important to track!

So add up all of your strikes, and enter them in the form below.

Example:

I threw 43 strikes.

There were 60 total pitches for every pitcher.

Example: 43 / 60 = .7166

Then, move the decimal over to the right two places to get your %.

This Strike % would be 71%.

Don’t cheat!  Be honest, because the only person this really matters to is you!

challenge 1

Total number of times you hit your intended SPOT!

Remember it is your responsibility to complete BOTH challenges!

Tomorrow will be a day without workouts to give you an extra day to complete BOTH of the challenges before we move forward!

Remember: If you are doing the part of the challenge where you are trying to throw the 15 strikes to each spot, you must hit the spot you are going for! If you are going for a strike inside, but you throw an outside strike, it doesn't count!

challenge 2

Total number of times you hit your intended SPOT!

How to Earn Your Wings

We're going to learn today how to EARN YOUR WINGS!  The best pitchers in the world are throwing about 70% in games. Strategy can make this % vary a little bit, but the average goal is about 70%.

In games, there is more pressure, more nerves. Those things have a tendency to break down our mechanics and our foundation...which is why we must practice HARDER and with more intensity so that our foundation stays with us during games and doesn't disappear with nerves.

Strike % means we can put the ball in the spot we want to WHEN we want to. If we can throw a high number of strikes IN A ROW, it means we have consistent mechanics, AND we are mentally tough when the pressure is on.

THEY GO HAND IN HAND. To earn your wings, it will take EFFORT and belief. You got this.

Together we will soar.

Intro to Body Awareness

To be a great pitcher, you must have BODY AWARENESS. Please watch this video with the intent to understand it.

Being able to control your body is so important for these reasons:

  1. Breaking bad habits in practice.

  2. Feeling what you are doing mechanically wrong in a game.

  3. Making quick mechanical adjustments in games.

  4. Being able to learn movement pitches faster.

  5. Learning a change-up faster and with more ease.

  6. Making tiny changes in mechanics that lead to BIG results in speed, command and movement.

  7. Gives you strength be mentally tough and the confidence to know YOU have control over YOUR body and YOU can change it.

A lack of body awareness can lead to:

  1. Making the same mistakes over and over again.

  2. Seeming like you are unwilling to grow and invest in your pitching.

  3. Looking like you are un-coachable.

  4. Lack of confidence to deal with the ups and downs in a game.

  5. Self-Doubt.

  6. Frustration you can't work out of.

  7. Someone is always having to tell you what to do.

I want YOU to be your own pitching coach when you need to be, and by starting with learning about Body Awareness, you become more aware of what YOU are doing.
